Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Bonn for the 36th GUM Meeting. Bonn is a historic city on the Rhine River in North Rhine-Westphalia and is best known as the birthplace of the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. It served as the capital of West Germany from 1949 to 1990, and it remains an important center for culture, education, international organizations, and national politics, therefor it is now known as „Bundesstadt“.

The conference will be held at the University of Bonn. Founded in 1818, it is one of Germany’s leading research universities today and attracts students and researchers from around the world. The University of Bonn has been a German University of Excellence since the summer of 2019. In 2025, it received funding for eight Clusters of Excellence, thereby becoming the nation’s most successful University of Excellence.

The main topics of this meeting are endogenous and exogenous DNA damage, food and environmental genotoxins, risk vs hazard assessment for genotoxicity, chromosomal instability, and current issues with relevance for industry (iGUM). The contribution of young scientists is very important to us, which is emphasized by a Young Scientist Workshop before the meeting and a dedicated Young Scientist session. As highlights, the GUM Award as well at the GUM Young Scientist Award are presented during the conference. Additionally, the best oral presentations and posters will be awarded.
